DESCRIPTION:The Phoenix Indian Center will be holding a Winter Navajo Shoe Game Virtual Storytelling Series facilitated by singer\, Talibah Begay. This 4-week Introduction to Navajo Singing and Storytelling will begin November 27th through December 18th on Monday evenings from 6:00-7:30pm (Phoenix time). This is will be a respected time and space for the community to learn about Navajo philosophy through songs and storytelling about Késhjéé – Navajo Shoe Game. Classes will be held virtually on Zoom. ASIST is 2-day interactive in-person training that teaches participants to recognize when someone may have thoughts of suicide and to work with them to create a plan that will support their immediate safety. The Phoenix Indian Center and the National Urban Indian Family Coalition will cohost voter registration locations around the Valley for Maricopa County and Navajo Nation voters! DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, Sept. 16th\, 2023 \n9:00 AM – 3:00 PM                  \nIndigenous youth ages 16 to 25 years old are invited to learn about personal discovery & build group connections using conversation\, arts & crafts & group activities. This workshop will explore the 4 cultural components of embracing community & healing through concepts of: belonging\, mastery\, interdependence and generosity. We will host this in-person workshop at South Mountain Community College inside the Student Union\, 7050 S. 24th Street\, Phoenix\, AZ 85042. Youth under 18 years old need parent permission.
